"Doubt" is an eight page full color short story. It was my first experiment with a more cinematic style in the sequential medium. It seems to have worked to a degree with people because everyone who has seen it has commented on the filmic atmosphere it conveys but personally I can see many things I'd improve. I had a very specific idea for my narrative that had to conform to eight pages. I had no intention to pad it out, so I'm happy to say I managed to work the core theme of existentialism into such a short number of pages, albiet a tad tight. Doubt is set in the Basilea universe that vulne pro started during our days as IO PRODUCTIONS. The setting of Marsean that Doubt plays out in developed into what is now Theos Ke Polemos our full TV series proposal. The main character of Dien Clien is now one of the main characters of Theos as the event's in Doubt, although modified, are part of the backstory. The
pages are pencil, shaded with blending stumps colored with Winsor &
Newton transparent watercolor finally coated with polyurethane to tint
and artificially age the illustrations. |
